Troop 437 Open House and Outdoor Fun Day for AOL Cub Scouts, Girls and Boys age 11-17

Posted on Oct 19 2022 - 1:47pm
Does your child age 11-17 enjoy outdoor activities, camping, hiking and other outdoor skills and physical activities? Scouting is a great option for active youth who enjoy exploring nature and fun physical activities like rock climbing, whitewater rafting, backpacking, shelter-building and more. If your child is an Arrow of Light Cub Scout, a BSA Scout Troop is their next step!

BSA Troop 437 is a mid-sized troop with boys and girls from Westford and surrounding towns. We meet on Thursday evenings during the school year to learn new skills, and we do a monthly overnight (optional) that usually involves camping, hiking, and other outdoor activities like zip-lining, ropes courses, canoeing, biking, etc. or indoor activities over the winter. Scouts learn a variety of practical and leadership skills as they advance in rank. Many 437 Scouts have earned the well-respected Eagle Scout rank.

To learn more, visit Troop 437's Open House on Thursday October 27 from 7-8:30 PM and our Outdoor Fun Day on Sunday November 6 from 2-4 PM at the American Legion, 114 Dunstable Rd.

Election Update and Advancement Reminder

Posted on Sep 14 2022 - 11:30am
Hello Scouts,

I want to update you on the election plans for this year's scout leadership.  As planned the SPL elections will be held on September 22nd.  We have 4 candidates running and they will all have an opportunity to share with the Troop their ideas on what they would like to do if they are elected SPL.

Since we re-formed the boys' patrols last week, the two boys' patrols also need to elect new patrol leaders.  As it is likely that one or more of the possible SPL candidates would also be considered for patrol leader it seems prudent to delay electing patrol leaders until after the SPL elections on the 22nd.  Thus we will revert to the Troop's usual election pattern and hold Patrol leader elections right after the SPL elections are completed.

As announced at the Troop meeting the advancement deadline for the Fall Court of Honor is September 29th.  This means that any completed merit badge records and rank advancement needs to be submitted by the 29th.  If you need a scoutmaster conference or a board of review to complete a rank please let Mrs. McKeen or I know by e-mail or on Discord and we will get them scheduled for the 22nd or the 29th.  As we will not be at the Troop meeting this week there will be no Scoutmaster conferences or boards held this week.

Yours in Scouting,

Mr. McKeen
