On Wednesday, January 18th, Troop Scouts need to arrive  at 6:30 pm and will be done at 8:30 pm

On Thursday, January 19th, Troop Scouts need to arrive at 6:45 pm and will be done around 8:45 pm

The January trip for Troop 437 is an overnight Lock-In at MetroRock climbing gym in Everett (https://metrorock.com/everett-home).  Enjoy all the climbing you can handle (top rope and auto-belay), bouldering with top out options on some routes, optional High Ropes course ($10 extra, limited number of spots available), movies, midnight feast, and games.

We will meet at Metro Rock in Everett at 8:45 PM on Friday January 6th (belayers who need training should arrive at 7:30 PM). There will be climbing, fun and food late into the evening, comfortable sleep on thick mats, and a light breakfast in the morning. We will depart by 8 AM on Saturday January 7th.  All you need is comfortable clothes, a sleeping bag, and any games you want to play.

Cost is $65 per climber, and an additional $10 if you're doing the ropes course (limited spots available).  $5 for non-climbing attendees.  We need several adults and Scouts 14+ to belay; please sign up, it's a fun trip!

This Week's Troop meeting will be a night hike at the Kennedy Pond trails.

Posted on Dec 7 2022 - 6:11pm

This week's troop meeting will not be held at the Legion.  It will be at the Kennedy Pond trails (part of the Nashoba Brook Watershed) where the troop will hold a short night hike.  Please meet at the parking area at the end of Trailside Way at the usual 7:00 pm starting time.  Please bring a flashlight and dress appropriately for the weather.  The hike will be complete by 8:30 pm.

Lonesome Lake Hut Hike and Overnight

Posted on Nov 30 2022 - 3:23pm

A winter backpacking trip! The hut is a short 1.6 mile hike over moderate terrain (with high probability of snow/ice). This is a chance to experience the beauty of the White Mountains without the crowds.

The Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC) huts provide a unique experience -- we will likely be hiking in winter weather with the opportunity to carry a lighter load due to the hut’s amenities. No tents are needed, but a warm sleeping bag is suggested since the bunkrooms are unheated buildings. We will be able to use the hut’s kitchen for meal preparation, so limited cooking equipment is required.

Outing: AMC Lonesome Lake Hut, Franconia Notch. Trailhead is Lafayette Place Campground, Franconia Notch State Park

Depart: Abbot School, Saturday, December 3 2022, 7:00 am to carpool

Travel time 2 to 2.5 hours

Signups due November 3rd, 2022
