5th Annual Bike Sale a Fantastic Success

Posted on May 6 2015 - 10:35pm
Our 5th annual Bike Sale is done and what a fantastic success it was!

First, a big thank you to all the troop members that took time out of their busy weekend schedules and helped us out Friday evening at the Legion and today at the Common.  Without everyone's help this event would not be the big event that it has become.  I had countless people telling me that they now look forward to the sale and plan on attending - you are building a legacy for the Troop in our community!

Secondly, special thanks to Scott Parr.  Scott was the mastermind behind this year's sale and did much of the heavy lifting to ensure all the details were taken care of.  Thank you Scott!

Lastly....we earned more money this year then in any prior year.  The sale continues to grow each year and the Troop will certainly benefit from the proceeds of the sale.  Want to know how much we earned come find out at the Troop meeting this week!

April Trip Change - Overnight Indoor Rock Climbing Lock-In - Still time to sign-up!

Posted on Apr 8 2015 - 9:56pm

This is going to be an awsome event!  We have a great turn out and there will be lots of rock climbing fun!  There is still time to signup at this week's troop meeting.  Make sure you bring a completed waiver and permission slip to the troop meeting.

The PLC has decided to change the April trip to be a Indoor Rock Climbing Overnight Lock in at the Central Rock Gym in Worcester.  They have over 13,000 sq. ft. of total terrain including over 100 bouldering, lead, and top rope stations.   Scouts will have the chance to experience all levels of rock climbing challenges.  Scouts will be able to climb as long as they want as we will have exclusive use of the climbing gym once their normal hours.

We will need trained belayers for this trip to support our climbers.  Adults and Scouts 15 or older can belay.  to belay you need to be trained at Central Rock Gym or have been trained at another rock climbing event.  If you need training please see the permission slip for details.

Merit Badge College approaching - be prepared

Everyone who signed up for merit badge college should have received information packages about the sessions you will be in.  Remember that you likely have some pre-work to complete (see the particular package you received) and you will need to get your Blue Cards signed by the Scoutmaster.

March Trip - Winter Survival/Pioneering at Camp Resolute - Signups over-due - turn in your signups this week if you are going!

Posted on Mar 5 2015 - 1:56pm

This is an outdoor camping trip - participants should be prepared to sleep in tents or shelters of their own construction.  No cabin will be available.  Due to the amunt of snow on the ground it is likely that scouts will have to clear areas for their tents and cooking.  Scouts need to come prepared with approiate clothing and equipment.

See our Cold Weather Camping page for more information.

The March trip for Troop 437 is a Pioneering and Survival weekend at Camp Resolute Scout Reservation.  On Saturday the boys will put to test as well as improve upon their pioneering and survival skills. All boys will have the opportunity to plan and assemble their own survival shelters of items found throughout camp! Those boys with a desire for adventure will be able to sleep in the survival shelters that they construct. We will follow  “leave no trace” principals and disassemble all shelters prior to leaving.
