Summer Camp Details and Information Meeting

Posted on Jun 22 2021 - 8:38pm

Hello Parents,

Thank you for your patience as we have been pulling together the details of our summer camp at Camp Moses.  Attached is this year's Troop 437 Summer Camp guide with hopefully many of the details you have been looking for.  Please take the time to read through the entire document as there are many differences from prior years.  It is a new camp for us during a year where everything is different due to the pandemic.

In anticipation that the document will not answer all your questions and likely raise new ones, we will hold a Summer Camp information meeting via Zoom on Sunday evening.
  • Troop 437 Summer Camp information meeting for Parents
  • Sunday, June 27th starting at 7:30 PM
  • Zoom meeting link:  see e-mail for link
We will do a quick review of the critical points from the document then open the meeting for questions and answers.

BSA Medical Forms due - Everyone needs to submit updated medical forms

Posted on Jun 16 2021 - 5:33pm

The Troop needs to collect updated BSA medical forms for all scouts on an annual basis.  All Adults attending Troop trips also need to complete the medical form.

  • For weekend camping trips the Troop needs Parts A and B with parent's signature (Due May 20th, needed prior to May camping trip).
  • For summer camp we also need Part C with a parent's signature, Dr's signature, and a copy of the scout's medical insurance card (Due June 17th for summer camp).
  • For Philmont, we need Parts A, B, and C with signatures, insurance card and the Dr needs to review the risk advisory with the scout and their family.

Click on the button below to access downloadable PDF versions of the medical forms.  They are fillable PDF forms to help in completing them.

Eagle Project Fund Raiser

Posted on Jun 16 2021 - 5:32pm
Hi Troop 437,

I started fundraising for my Eagle Project on GoFundMe. Please take a look at the link below, and I appreciate any support.

My project is a 10’ x 10’ accessible viewing platform at Grassy Pond in Westford, Massachusetts. Grassy Pond is a beautiful conservation area that has wonderful views and wildlife. The ground between the parking area and pond can be bumpy making it difficult for those with mobility issues to traverse. The platform entry area would be on the same level with the parking lot making it easy for wheelchairs to roll directly onto the platform. The Westford Conservation Commission has wanted an accessible platform for a while so all people could enjoy Grassy Pond.

I am starting the fundraising part of my project. The funds I raise will help me purchase all the wood needed for this project as well as any materials like nails, screws, concrete, and needed elements to be ADA compliant. All extra proceeds will go directly to the Westford Conservation  Commission. I hope to raise $3000 for this project. My plan is to start construction in the late summer early fall 2021.

Thank you in advance for your generosity in donating any amount towards my project. I would also gladly accept any donated items as well so please reach out to me about that if preferred.

Thanks,
Derek Masterson

Troop Camping at Camp Resolute May 22nd and 23rd - Signup deadline May 13th

Posted on May 19 2021 - 8:33pm

Camping, Camping, Camping!

Let's go camping in May to Camp Resolute! Less than a 20 minute drive from Westford.

The campout starts by meeting at the Camp Resolute parking lot at 9:00am on Saturday, May 22, 2021. All Scouts will be dismissed from the parking lot at 10:00am on Sunday, May 23, 2021.

We will be tent camping and each Scout needs to have their own tent. The troop has some tents and sleeping bags that can be borrowed if you don't already have one.

Camp Resolute is a hike-in camp, meaning we'll need to hike our gear about a third of a mile to our campsites. So think carefully and pack light. You can review the Troop gear list at this link: https://www.westfordtroop437.us/node/1521

Make sure you bring a compass as we will be playing some compass games and using it in the woods. We'll also be doing some of the regular Scout Skill activities including fire building, Ax Yard, Hiking, and rank requirements you were not able to do over Zoom! Plus, we'll have a campfire!

Please sign up early so we can get a good headcount and refine our planning.

Posted on May 12 2021 - 7:10pm

In order to ensure that our in-person events are as safe as possible, all participants - scouts and adults, must bring a completed Scout Health card with them.  A new health card is needed for each event to be dated and signed the day of the event.  The health card can be downloaded by clicking on the image to the left or on the link below.
